The where and how of getting married
By Kate
Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands
You may get married by a religious or civil ceremony in Northern Ireland. In certain religious ceremonies it is not necessary to serve notice of marriage to the registrar, but a period of residency may be required. For a civil marriage or a religious one requiring the attendance of a registrar, it is necessary to give notice of marriage, and to wait a period of time before marrying.
