Film Night!

For Marriage Week 2010 we are encouraging couples and communities to watch a marriage related movie, and then talk about some of the issues raised!

A movie night together!

The idea is simple – watch a movie together. Could be as a couple, with a group of friends, or even as a community group or church.

We’ve suggested a number of films – ones that we have found can get you thinking about your relationship – films that both of you can enjoy together

Talk about it!

Films can challenge us, make us uncomfortable, or reassure us that “we’re not like that!”

If you are working with a group you could prepare a question sheet with a number of questions to get you talking about some of the issues raised by the movie.

Or of course, you could just cuddle up like in the back row of the cinema….

Invite some friends!

Got a few friends that you’d like to encourage in their relationships??

Then why not invite them round and make an evening of it. Buy some pizza, and some drinks, and you’ve got the makings of a great evening in!

And don’t forget the questions for the end – you can get a lively discussion going to round off the evening!

An evening for your community group or church

A film evening is a great way to get people together to socialise – to build up a sense of community working and playing together. Here's a leaflet you can download to invite them

Buy in a few suitable drinks, add a big bag of popcorn and everyone can join in!

Where can I get the film or DVD?

Most of the films are available to hire either from your local video shop, or alternatively from on-line distributors such as Lovefilm.com.

If you want to purchase a copy of the film then click on the image next to the film title.

Please note that both rental and purchased copies generally only have a licence for personal use, not for public viewing – for more information on public licenses see below.

Do I need a film license for a public showing?

Most films you rent or buy are licensed only to show in the privacy of your own home. If you show a film or DVD to a public group, or if you advertise the event, you will need a license. This applies whether you are charging entry or not.

Many church and community groups subscribe to CVLI and some of the films listed are include in this scheme. If your group has a CVLI licence then you can show the films at no further cost.

Alternatively, if you need a single public viewing licence then this can be obtained from Filmbank, and their charges include providing you with a copy of the film. The Film Fireproof requires a special licence from the US from Outreach.com.

Please note that this advice is offered as guidance, and you should verify for yourself that you have the correct license I place to show the film in a public place.
