Marriage Week has grown from humble beginnings to become a leading “focus week” both for organisations involved with marriage, and for the media. The ONS regularly issues its latest figures on marriages during the week, and Charles and Camilla even chose Marriage Week to announce their engagement. The week attracts support across the political spectrum, as well as involvement from many faith communities who bring their own particular understanding to marriage in their different communities.
Throughout Marriage Week organisations across the UK will be issuing Press Releases featuring topical information, new products and services, and human interest stories. To receive advanced copies of the releases please register your interest with us ahead of time.
On Tuesday 8th Feb 2011 there was a full press launch of Marriage Week in the Houses of Parliament with a range of speakers headed by the Right Honorable Iain Duncan Smith, Minister for Work and Pensions. There is more information on this in the Press Releases below. The many events happening around the UK are listed on our events forum.
Media researchers and writers are also welcome to download our “Marriage Facts” sheet which includes up to date statistics, and corrects many of the myths frequently quoted about marriage.
