We have a natural longing to know and be fully known by someone we love. This book affirms that this desire comes from God and is seen both in our longing to know God and our longing for human love. The author explores the meaning of true deep intimacy, both through examples in everyday life and also through imaginative contemplation of bible passages in the Ignation tradition. Although this approach is not to everyone's taste, the book still has much insight to offer on marital love and God's love for each of us. In a world where sex has been emptied of all except the physical and hedonistic and Christianity is so often seen as a "kill joy", ascetic existence, this book encourages us to discover that sex and intimacy are indeed gifts from God, who sent his Son that we might have life in abundance.
