On this day 99 years ago today, we suffered 60,000 casualties in only one day, dead, wounded, & missing, this futility continued for another 5 months, my wife and spent a week around the Somme exactly 2 years ago and believe me it makes you think, 1st July 1916 lest we forget. http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/worldwa...le_somme.shtml
