100th Anniversary of the Gallipoli Landings

Being a Northener and amateur WW1 historian I want everyone to remember the sacrifice of many thousands of men from both sides in that futile campaign that was launched on this day in 1915, we have seen many of their graves in Malta where the wounded and sick were evacuated including many Turkish soldiers whose final resting place is in the Turkish cemetery in Marsa and I am very proud to say that we have placed poppies down for all of them.

"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them."
