Re: Stop me please

No I cant get rid of them too many special memories in there of great places and happy times, I have put them away that's enough for now, I don't believe in throwing things like that away I don't think its a healthy way to deal with a problem, anyway you never know what might happen we could drop lucky and sort things out you just never know whats round the corner.

It can be healthy to get rid of past things. I got rid of my wedding photo book after my marriage ended. What was the point in keeping it?

We are all different and deal with things in our own ways and in our own time, I remember when my dad died my mum took ages to eventually get rid of his stuff and then not all of it, yet my m-I-l got rid of my f-I-l stuff within a few weeks of his death, it didn't mean she loved him any less it just meant she dealt with things differently, I guess im just the same, I'm grieving and not nearly ready to make big changes like that yet, I have taken nearly all our wedding photos down there are 2 left that I could look at if I wanted to, one in our corner unit and one in our back room but I don't look at them often they are jt reminders of a very special day nearly 18 years ago.

I think that someone dying and the other spouse wanting to remember them and the marriage is one thing, but if a spouse has left and looking at pictures only brings misery, and an opening of the wound again, it seems pointless.
Thats why I didnt look at mine, far too painful for so long to do so, and I had to be strong for my 3 children so there was no room for reminding myself all the time.
