Emotional v physical

Hi all,

why do women feel so much more devastated by emotional affairs than when they know something is purely a physical act?

I know that my marriage would be dead and buried if I suspected my husband had been emotionally involved with another woman, such as he really liked her, loved her, was having an affair, they had gotten close through work etc.

Is physical or emotional worse for a man if his wife cheats?

Hope

I would be devastated by both, but I think for me the physical may be even worse. I think that I may eventualy get over the emotional, but not sure about actual sex. I suppose that we are all different.

Re: Emotional v physical

I found the emotional affair my first husband had , whilst abroad on detachment in the RAF just as hard to bear as the physical affairs my last partner had .

To know that he'd spent time with this woman, shared parts of himself with her and her son that should only have been shared with me and my son broke my heart . She had no idea he was a married man with a child ( I wrote to her when I found out ) , she was a really nice person it turned out , that didn't make me feel any better .

Any affair is a betrayal in my eyes and I could now not stay with someone who broke that trust . Honesty is the most important thing for me and I no longer forgive and forget - I've had a life time of it .
