Unhappy Impotence and how it affects marriage

I have been happily married with my wife for 15 years. Never have we had any problems when it comes to our sex life. However, 2 years ago, I was diagnosed with Diabetes Type II. It was most likely because of the lifestyle that I had and the stress from work. One of the most life-changing effects of diabetes I have experienced is the erectile dysfunction. I could not solely blame the diabetes for the impotence, but my doctor says that it is one of the possible causes. I have been taking medications such as Viagra from treated(dot)com. It was good because I got my medications at an affordable price from them.
My wife isn't saying anything but I know that she gets disappointed because I rely on the medications already. Do you think this can be resolved eventually? My blood sugar is controlled already. I do hope you have ideas which can help me with the impotence.

Re: Impotence and how it affects marriage

There seem to be many reasons for ED such as cholestrol level (which affects supply of blood to the penis), age, pornography etc. all of which will have different solutions. If viagra works I suppose that is okay but am not sure about the long term effects of this.

A spiritual diagnosis by Henry Wright in the book I am reading says that Diabetes (type 2) is not an autoimmune disease but an anxiety disorder where the white corpucles interfere with the function of the pancreatic tissue, but the tissue is not destroyed. Possible spiritual roots are fear of failing others, fear of failure, fear of man, performance and driveness. That's not medical though just his spiritual perspective. Stress from work would appear to fit in with that though. Just by the way.

Can I ask if you wake up with an erection sometimes? If you do that would rule out a physical reason I suppose. Not sure about the connection with Diabetes 2 and ED though. You would need to check that online.

Re: Impotence and how it affects marriage

MY husband has had diabetes type 11 for 6 or 7 years. Sadly its in his family, and despite eating healthily and exercising regularly he still got it. He is on insulin injections 3 times a day. He is 59.
You say that its not solely due to the diabetes, so did you have it before that? How old are you?
Have you have the testosterone levels checked?
BTW if you are in the uk you get all prescriptions for free if you are diabetic.

Sometimes it can come down the generational line. According to Ellel Pierrepont anyway. It's a common prayer they pray there.

Re: Impotence and how it affects marriage

The good news is that there's almost always a resolution for all men who seek the help. There are even prosthetic devices.

The bad news is that the capillary blood vessels which have to flow freely to engorge the penis have no repair method, and that there are currently no drug regimens which remove plaque from them.

If they remain open enough, one therapy which may help is a "penis pump". A vacuum device which lowers the pressure inside the penis and draws blood in, giving an assist to your vasculature. In more advanced stages of atherosclerosis, this doesn't work anymore.

The other bad news is that ED is a warning sign of impending heart disease. All men experiencing ED should go see a cardiologist.
