Question rings

does anyone know if wedding rings are exchanged in a muslim marriage? We have got our rings but have know read that gold is forbidden for muslim men to wear? He is Muslim,, I am not...

Hi Gina

We are NOT experts in this area, but from what I understand the real issue is how strictly you wish to folow the teaching of Islam, and traditional Muslim practice.

There is quite a good site here which gives a lot of background on traditional practice. As far as I can tell it is only traditional for the groom to give a gift (dowry) to the bride. It would appear that gift to the groom are not traditional.

I would have a look at the resources and articles too under our section on Marriage in other faiths as there are some very challenging issues to be faced in hese situations - differences in practice on rings is just the tip of an iceberg!
