Re: Please help. My life has been turned upside down

Do you think that's why I feel in limbo? Like everything is just frozen?

Yes. You are still probably hoping that he will recover and that things will get back to what they were. This will stop you letting go and moving on. The fact that friends keep telling you how he is etc wont help you do that. Of course you are free to keep on hoping, but how long will you wait? Another year? Two? Three? Indefinitely? Or do you and your son want/need to put it behind you, accept that its all over and behind you, and make a fresh start? Only you can decide.

Yes, deep down I do still hope for that. Although in my heart of hearts I realise it has gone too far for there to be a way back to what we had so I know I am wasting my time

IF you know deep down that it is pointless, you may need to cut those ties completely and separate yourself from him in every way. Not easy but possible.

I thought that might have been the case vsl. You are hoping against all the odds in spite of what he says. The wisest thing is to draw a line under it. Grieve and move on. If he comes back at a later date so be it but you have to draw a line under it and move on. As Chosen says don't even ask about him until you are confident that you have put it behind you.

Before my wife married me she went away to the coast to be on her own before God. She went through a personal struggle to give me up if that was God's will. She was very much in love with me. Probably more than I was with her at that time. I think she was a far stronger person in the marriage because of that.
