Getting married to someone not baptised

My partner and I wish to be married. I have been brought up a catholic all my life - my partner on the other hand has no faith and is not even baptised.

I consider myself more a Christian than a roman catholic and would be more than happy to marry in a C of E chuch.

Is it possible for us to be married in any christian church?

Dear Ariano,

To be married in an Anglican church you do not need to be baptised. One or other of you do however have to be resident in the parish of the church where you wish to be married.

For other non Roman Catholic churches, you would need to check with the local minister about any requirements they have.

I am not sure if all Catholic priests expect both partners to be baptised - have you checked with your local priest?

I hope you can find the right place for your special day.

With best wishes

Liz

And what if you want to get married in an Anglican church outside your parish?

Dear Ariano,

You might like to check out the article here. Most Anglican ministers are fairly definite that you have to be resident in their parish or on the electoral roll of their church. There are common and special licences which you can obtain (see article). Other denominations are not usually so definite.
