A question for Raymond?

Hi Raymond,
This is not to test you, but you seem the person most likely to be able to answer! If anyone else wants to contribut feel free!
I was watching a film called The Mission (which I know is old but I had never seen and was excellent) and in it, it quoted at length a passage from the Bible about Love. I cannot remember it verbatim but the gist was " If a man does this , or that but does not love or have love then it is for nothing" I have a feeling it is something to do with Paul, and his "Faith Hope and Love, but Love is the greatest" passage, but I may be wrong. ANYWAY, what it boils down to is, despite drifting quite far from the church, there is a part of me that stills believes and those words struck me as something that could be applied beneficially not only to my marriage but to my life and the world as a whole. But I'm not sure where to find them. Can you help?
Can I also say, that had I met more people within the Church who had your compassion and genorosity of spirit, I probably would not have drifted away as I did- you are an inspiration and if it is not wrong to say such a thing, an excellent advertisement for Christianity!

Hi 32

Its in 1 Corinthians 13. An excellent book on this passage is "A love worth giving" by Max Lucado.

Hi 32. Clockwork has pipped me to the post. Well done Clockwork. You are on the ball. As a christian it is something always to bear in mind. Whatever you achieve if you haven't love you've missed the point. You have pinpointed the main thing in the bible next to loving God. Without God you cannot do it anyway. The end of the commandment is love. In other words the whole purpose of it is to produce love in us which comes from God, as God is love. And one cannot know God without coming through his son.
