I'm absolutely delighted to be asked, this week, to be best man at a close friend's wedding, and I'd really like to make a decent job of the speech. But what to say?

Anyone got any useful tips; or knowledge of where to go to find some useful info for putting together a decent 'best man's' speech?

Thanks in anticipation.

You might take a look at the Wedding Planning area of the site. For example there is a tip on Wedding Speeches (http://www.2-in-2-1.co.uk/weddings/planwedding/speeches.html) and also a site with loads of quotes (http://www.2-in-2-1.co.uk/php-bin/jump.php?linkid=19).

I think the most important aspects are that it should be fun, and that it should affirm the special qualities that you see in the Groom, the Bride, and their love for each other. Too often the speeches seem to be a time for tearing each other down - what a waste!!
