I need a question answered although I already think I know the answer. Who comes first Wife or family?

Good question,

I guess it depends on the situation but as a rule your spouse must come first. The commitment you make in a marriage is deep, lifelong and a decision that you have made and should honour.

Here comes the but...

Family will always be there to support you if and when things go wrong. Like i said it depends on the situation.

Just my opinion though.

Good answer Dave. If wife comes first everything else will follow. The best thing I can do for my kids is to love my wife. This creates a unity that goes through the whole family. Children will leave eventually but you two are there (or should be) for the long haul.

If by family you are talking of parents etc. Richard then wife still comes first and family second. Obviously you still love them but not before your wife

Very often, families that have tried to prevent a marriage by 'cutting off' their child, not attending the wedding, and so forth, will come around in due course. Same - even more so - with disapproved pregnancies: once the child exists, family instincts kick in.

It's not always so. But my point is: family ties are strong and - in most cases - strong enough to accept a new shoot, as it's preferable to losing an entire branch. They're not called "family trees" for nothing! Trees resist grafting (when you splice another tree in) but they take eventually :)
