hi everyone

When going through threads, there are quite often recommendations of books to read.

I'd be interested to hear about any books that people have read to help their marriages - it would be v helpful to get an idea of what they are about and how effective you found them.

I haven't really looked at any yet as, since my H appears not to be coming back, I wonder if it is worth reading them - what would you all recommend?

Thanks
Topsy

Ok, I'll kick off...
I have read and followed avidly,
"The Divorce Remedy" by Michele Weiner Davis:
A programme for saving your marriage when one partner isn't interested.

"The Five Love Languages" by Gary Chapman:
Helps you to explore your preferred way of giving and receiving love. I would imagine it would be really useful for couples who are trying to work together on saving a marriage.

"The Secret" by Rhonda Byrne:
Rather uplifting theory book all about the powers of positive thought: Hell, I'm so desperate, I'd try anything if I think it'll work....

"I love you, But I'm not in love with you" by Andrew G Marshall:
Have only just got this one, its supposedly how to fall back in love with someone.

Thanks for that! I guess divorce remedy might be the best one for me right now and 'love you but not in love' is one he needs to read!!!!

Hi
Definately buy/rent/steal the "Divorce Remedy" I purchased it over a week ago on recomendations from people on this site.

Although it hasnt helped to solve my situation (See my post - Wife doesnt love me) it has certainly helped to clear my head and make me think more about me and what I want out of life.

Keep your chin up - If you have chance to talk and sort the problems out then that is for the better.

but

Make sure you are looking after you - Do not give your other half the satisfaction of seeing you down and depressed.

KEEP SMILING

I am also reading The Art of Happiness (http://theartofhappiness.com/service.htm) a collaboration between His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, and Howard C. Cutler, M.D., a Phoenix-based psychiatrist.

"How one of you can bring the two of you together" by Susan Page - excellent book, full of experiments and things *you* can do YOURSELF that can bring you together. Worked a treat for me, and if it *dosen't* work, it will at least give you a lot of skills for future relationships.

"Men are from Mars..." was good for me too - very helpful to see *how* M & W do communicate very differently. Helped me see the ways our communication was broken.

Good luck.
