Tracie,

These are questions that are probably best answered by your own solicitor but I can tell you what I know from going through my own divorce.my query is because its his 1st appointment on monday, will they be able to contest the divorce in time?Possibly not. If your husband just accepts the divorce then yes, chances are the solicitor will be able to lodge the necessary paperwork with the court on time, although he may ask for more time given the short space of time available to respond. If your ex chooses to fight the divorce petition, putting a case together will take time and it is therefore likely that his solicitor will ask for more time to respond. Whatever happens, you will be notified by the courts about what is happening and you will be given a leaflet advising you what to do depending on his response.can he stop the divorce happening after the 8 days have elapsedYour husband can try to dispute the divorce at any time before the Decree Nisi is issued but he would have to prove that he hasn't behaved unreasonably. If you have evidence of his violent behaviour (speak to your solicitor about what constitutes 'evidence') your husband can try to contest the divorce but chances are he will not be successful.

I am no expert so I would suggest that you speak to your solicitor about these 2 questions to inform yourself about what might happen next.
