this question. Do women forget their former lovers and having sex with them or is it something you forget all about? My wife advises that she doesn't remember anything about her affair a few years ago and doesn't really remember much about him. Is this true or is she just trying to make me feel better? Thanks in advance.

Dear RTF

You don't say how long ago this all was but I can confirm a few things about memory.

One, everybody tends to forget everything if you wait long enough. Whole cultures are dedicated to stopping this effect, which is why we have to remember birthdays, commemoration days, wedding anniversaries etc. It is remembering which takes the conscious effort. Forgetting comes naturally. That fact alone is very hard to remember, especially for people on this board who only pray they will be able to forget their present anguish.

Two, if you want someone to hurry up and forget something, well then, just stop reminding them to remember.
