Ah at last a problem we can solve!!

There are three possible solutions we can offer. The first involves a small portable device called a remote control - pressing any number other than 1 will generally change te channel away from the offending one.

Second, using the RC, or alternatively the big button on the front of the set, turn it off - this will remove Vikki from all view.

Failing one and 2 above, simple pull all the wires to the TV out from their sockets in the wall - this will definately silence her!

Or how about this - why not write a letter to your partner describing your feelings in real depth? You could use a question like "What really annoys me on TV? How do I feel when I see this?". Then read each others letters, and explore the differences and similarities. That way you can turn this into an opportunity to grow in your relationship.

Good luck

Thanks Dave, your advice really helped - the tips you gave me never occurred to me until reading your reply.

unfortunately i am addicted to the said soap, so using any of the buttons you suggested would restrict my viewing pleasure completely. the thing is, since dirty den arrived back in the square i have found myself glued to the set, the only problem being his annoying American/cockney offspring!! and being sad and single i cant discuss this with a non existent partner (probably if i wasnt sad and single i wouldnt have the Vikki Problem)

..... anymore advice would be greatly appreciated.

Ah - well two things occur to me.

As you don't have a partner, clearly the sharing idea doesn't work. However, have you stopped to ask yourself what it is about yourself that reacts so strongly to Vikki? Your feelings are signs that something about her behaviour and attitudes doesn't fit with yours. Perhaps you feel embarrassed - a sign that you wouldn't want to behave in that way, or angry - a sign that you judge she is being foolish or rude or whatever.

Whenever we have strong feelings it's worth remembering that they are simply symptoms that arise as our personality interacts with our environment - we can learn a lot about ourselves by examining where our feelings arise from - and remember that they arise from inside us, NOT from the situation itself. You could explore this more with our Personality Profiler (http://www.2-in-2-1.co.uk/pp/personprofile1.html).

And my other question.... how id you end up here at this board?? We're delighted you are here - just intrigued as to how a single person with a hang-up about a soap character ends up at 2-in-2-1??!"!

hi Dave,

a bit of a confession to make here....
i am the person who posted the problem before this one "a sad affair" as no one answered so i thought id test to see if anyone was actually answering the messages, and devised my Vikki prob.

Even though i dont like Vikki from Eastenders that much, she doesnt grate my cheese enough for me to seriously get depressed about. i suppose it was my sense of humor that made me reply again.

The problem that i really would like help on is the affair.
sorry if ive wasted your time.

PS please dont think i am a nutter.
