Hi ,

I need some advice. My wife and I recently had alot of quarrels and finally she asked for a cooling period. I know that my insensitive and disrespectful behaviours have caused this. I want to change and to make her happy. We arranged to have a talk and but it didn't end well cause I got defensive when she starts lecturing me etc. After that I regreted and thought that I should have just listened to her.

But now it's seems like she really do not want to discuss anymore and I really do not know how to do anything if she doesnt give me a chance!

please advise me

GW

Dear GW

I should take a look at our whole section on handling conflict and arguements (http://www.2-in-2-1.co.uk/marriageclinic/diffhurtforg/) - there are loads of good resources there which may give you some ideas on what you can do differently to make arguements (which all of us have by the way) work positively in your relationship.

You talk of your wife wanting a "Cooling off" period. Notsure if you simply mean a period in which you don't fight, or an actual separation. If it's the latter then take a look at our article on Managed Separation (http://www.2-in-2-1.co.uk/marriageclinic/whenover/managedsepn/), and get hold of the book "Should I stay or go? (http://www.2-in-2-1.co.uk/marriageclinic/whenover/staygo/)

Hope that helps
