Hi - I posted earlier on in the year when I was having relationship difficulties. My boyfriend of 14 years was depressed due to the death of his dad and he was saying he didn't know if he wanted to be in a relationship, etc, etc. But I just wanted to let everyone know that we have worked it out, though we still take it one day at a time, and things are looking much better - he's even talking about marriage next year, if we can afford it! So to all those going through rough patches, stick it out, try to look on the bright side, and hopefully everything will work out.

Thanks Claire, that's really encouraging.

Can you share with us what helped (and what got in the way)? Is it just the passage of time, or have you and your partner learned some better ways for you to communicate through this?

For those interested to read about the original situation, the string is here (http://www.2-in-2-1.co.uk/ubb/Forum6/HTML/000046.html).

Thanks for your news, Claire

Hi Dave

There's not really much to tell. Pip just realised that he does want to spend the rest of his life with me, and even though we still have some difficult days, the thought of us being apart is a worse scenario. As I said, we're just taking it a step at a time. If he's in a particularly miserable mood I try to keep out of his way!! He still doesn't really know why he's like this, apart from the impact his dad's death has had, but he knows he's hurt me and he's desperately trying to make up for that. Here's to the future http://www.2-in-2-1.co.uk/ubb/smile.gif
