PREPARE/ENRICH Psycometric Marital Inventories Training
By John Deagle
A Training Day
A Training Day requires a minimum of six hours, including a half hour lunch break. With lectures and work in small groups, it prepares the Practitioner to administer an inventory and to prepare for and deliver effective feedback to most couples.
A "participant" can be either a couple (most often a married couple) or one person. One trainer can usually deal with about twelve individuals; assistance (from another Practitioner) is desirable with more than 12. Every individual will receive a Training Manual. Each of the "participants" will receive a more comprehensive Practitioner Manual, a full set of materials to administer the inventories and three complimentary scoring coupons to be used with the first couples they assist. All participants are required to "complete" an inventory before the training day; the purpose is to gain an insight from the point of view of a respondent and to gain an insight into the scope and depth of the inventory. It also clears up some of the simple but necessary 'how to' questions which can bog down the start of the training day. If participants choose to complete an inventory as a couple, their answers can be scored and a Practitioner Report of their results prepared free of charge, for their eyes only.
COST: The cost per 'participant', individual or couple, is £55.00. Participants should bring their own lunch but tea, coffee etc are provided. Travel costs are borne by the participant; please note parking near London
venues is extremely expensive and you are advised to use public transport since both usual venues are minutes from the nearest Underground station. Bourne Street is 1 min from Sloane Square, the Advent Centre 2 mins from Edgeware Road (Hammersmith Line).
COURSE OBJECTIVE: To equip practitioners to fill a gap between prescriptive marriage education programmes and crisis remedial counseliing/psychotherapy. The intention is to cover only the essential aspects of administering the inventories, including feedback. Participants should expect to supplement this training by studying the Practitioner's Manual later.
